Protest Add comments

Mincéirs Whiden we are holding a vigil outside the British Embassy 29 Merrion Rd, Ballsbridge Dublin 4 on Friday 16th Sep 12.30 pm as an act of peaceful protest against the planned mass evection of 86 Traveller families from Dale Farm Traveller Halting site in England, a letter of protest will be handed to the British Ambassador to Ireland Mr Julian King, MW are also seeking a meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs Eamon Gilmore. The Travellers on Dale Farm have fought a 10 year legal battle to continue to live on the Traveller owned site, but because the original planning was for only 40 families to live on the site, Basildon Council can go ahead with the planned evection of 86 families from the site on the 19th Sep, despite not having provided any alternative accommodation. The United Nations committee for Elimination of Racial Discrimination, called on the British Government to suspend the evection as it would disproportionately affect family life (cause unnecessary distress and disruption to families and children) the British Government declined to do so. Please come along on Friday if you can show your support for the Dale Farm Travellers, you can also log on to this link and sign the petition against the evection http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/dalefarm/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=system&utm_campaign=Send%2Bto%2BFriend
